Last night I had a dream that was so magical and wonderful, it made my heart ache. Now that I'm awake, though, I can only remember fragments: a woman named Lily, watching the sun rise and set, wild parties, a shrine in the canyon and generations of family and friends and it was wonderful. It was the movie "Big Fish" mixed with....well, another film that was in my mind early this morning but now is forgotten.

i am (watching) the arm

I find myself increasingly aware of arm hair. This isn't some freaky turn on or anything, but my eyes are drawn to peoples' arms constantly, like I'm cataloging it in my mind. I'm hoping that this is a passing thing, like the time I was obsessed with watching QVC and HSN.

1. I would love to be a backup singer for a band.
2. I make a damn good deviled egg.
3. I don't like to be barefoot, but walking around in socks is a-okay.

those darn kids

Today I listened to a little boy make this short, repetitive whining sound while his mother chose to ignore him rather than leave the building. The longer I heard it, the more it sounded like the Villainous Ghost that haunts the docks in a Scooby Doo cartoon. If only.

channeling Jamie Stemple Buchman

Today I wore dark grey pants and white tennis shoes to work. It wasn't until I was halfway through my day that I realized that I was sporting Helen Hunt's look from "Mad About You." And I couldn't decide if I should be embarrassed by that or not.

On a side note: does anyone still call athletic shoes the generic name of "tennis shoes" anymore? Is that the equivalent of saying "record store"?

ice cream blouse

Today a co-worker wore a blouse of the palest pink and I wanted to tell her that it made me think of ice cream and the soda fountain of Ray Bradbury's "Dandelion Wine". I didn't though, because I wasn't sure if she would see the compliment in my statement.
